In the past few weeks I've noticed a considerable increase in automatated spam comments. Basically, on my two most popular posts, I was receiving about 30 comments per day in the following manner:
Author : phentermine prescription (IP: 193.188.77.2 , 193.188.77.2)
E-mail : yhqgzd@hotmail.com
URI : http://phonline.ph.funpic.de/phenter…scription.html
Whois : http://ws.arin.net/cgi-bin/whois.pl?…t=193.188.77.2

Very good site. Thank you:-)
While my Spam Karma plugin was catching them, it was frustrating to have to constantly moderate them. I would have loved to just blacklist these guys, but I believe they were using a botnet, as the IP was different every time.
So I vented my frustration on DigitalPoint forums, and someone recommended Peter's Anti-spam plugin. Life has been easy since!
Now I get no spam in wordpress, as each commenter is required to type the random word in the generated image to verify that they're human! Until spammers figure out how to exploit this, I'll be spam free!
