I'm a great proponent of wise money management. I budget every month to the penny, I planned for unexpected expenses, and I look for good deals. I have had only one loan in my life (besides my mortgage), and I honestly hope to never need another.
Unfortunately, I can't say the same for many others. It's almost depressing how many people are applying for and counting on getting a personal loan to help them out in a situation that poor financial management has gotten them into. And if they have bad credit history, they'll need a secured loan. Otherwise, of course, one could apply for an unsecured loan.
Honestly, my personal advice is to plan and spend wisely, so that you'll never need to rely on a loan. But if something very unexpected comes up, check out the links in this post for more information on personal loans.
