Learn how to create Joomla templates

I wasn't always the Joomla module and template guru that I consider myself to be now. There was a time when I was completely lost, looking everywhere for information on how to create a unique Joomla template, even going so far as to download the Dreamweaver extension that has the quick tags to make a .php file a template.

In retrospect, it would have been much easier if I had an instruction manual outlining the simple steps required when making Joomla Templates. The ebook in the link I just posted seems to be fairly comprehensive, and from the reviews it appears that it will fully equip you to make a new coded template, even if you know little or nothing about coding.

I think it's pretty cool that they already include a number of free – but decent looking – templates when you register and pay for the ebook.

The sales copy indicates that the instructions and illustrations will enable you to be able to create new templates in only five steps. That's pretty awesome! And when you think about it, this book could pay for itself with the first template you make, if you auction it off for sponsorship and release it free!

  2. if it's not too much to ask,
can you give a hint or point to some tutorials on how to make a page header stay in place while the rest is refreshing/reloading, like yours above on this site and on the site you provided example for yours mod_anything plugin: ?
    great plugin by the way,

  3. Adam, I'm not sure what you mean by 'page header stay in place'

  5. Hi Justin,

You have got a sleek template,i was quite delighted to see your site.

  6. I am looking for a tutorial for making a joomla template, does anybody have one?

  7. maybe i am being thick! but where is the actual link for the 'instruction manual' and how much is it please?

  8. Isn't it great when people take from the Open Source community, and then give back nothing. Like charging people to buy a .pdf about developing templates for a free OS cms.

  9. DMC – How do you know what the author gives or does not give? If you'd like to write a 91 page book (e-book or otherwise) of the same caliber, which helps others to use and further establish joomla, please do so. I'm thankful that there are good reference materials out there.

  10. The ebooks aren't really meant to match the print book (since they need to "reflow" for different screen sizes – ), though if you view the PDF version in Adobe Reader it will match the print version.
