Very cool – voice recordings for blogs

Web

Now we can add yet another item to the "wish I'd thought of that" list. A company called RAZZ is offering bloggers the ability to place voice recordings (with mixed in background effects) to use on blogs, MySpace, and pretty much any web page. The flash-based RAZZ player gets embedded on a web page, and can either play from some pre-recorded messages on the company's website, or you can record and mix your own. This definitely has potential! (more…)

Craigslist vs. niche marketplace

I recently decided to sell my 65 gallon saltwater aquarium. The first thought that came to mind was to use the classifieds section of the local saltwater hobbyist forum that I'm a member of.

On a whim, I also thought I'd post the identical ad on Craigslist, and see which performs better. Intuitively I expected a much higher response from the marine aquarists' forums.

Surprisingly, here are the results: the ad has been on the forum for almost 4 months. I've received 3 replies via the forum, and 2 emails. The ad has been on Craigslist for about 12 hours now, and I've received 3 emails already! Perhaps it's just a matter of the greater traffic beating out the highly targeted in my case…

Internet Explorer 7 vs. Firefox 2.0

For the longest time, there has been a wide chasm between Firefox and IE. At its inception, Firefox was able to capitalize on many of the features and functionality missing from the lethargic yet ubiquitous IE. So I bought my Mac

Mac

After much deliberation, I finally took the plunge yesterday, and bought myself a MacBook! The much anticipated announcement yesterday of the upgraded Core 2 Duo processors left me hanging, as only the Pro line were upgraded. It could be at least a month until the MacBook line are updated, and possibly even as far out as January. Not only that, but I want to buy a re-certified laptop to save the money, and I can't imagine any of the new models will be re-certified for many more months. So I decided to go ahead with the purchase now. Besides, if I want to upgrade down the road, I can always sell the one I have!

Apple has closed its stores!!!!

Mac

If you try to access Apple's online store, you get the message: We are busy updating the store for you and will be back shortly. This can mean only one thing, THE NEW MACBOOKS ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Update: the store is now live, and only the MacBook Pro line have been updated. That stinks, I want the MacBook.
