That's really awesome! I could use your technique with breeze; but as mentioned by Timm, it gets reset to 0. This is done by the hosting provider.
There are 3 options to overcome this problem:
1) Talk to the hosting provider. Which I suspect they'll not agree.
2) Do it manually every time the 'Update Now' link is missing.
3) Setup a cron which checks the .conf file regularly and updates the flag to 1.</description>

I thought it was up to the host to enable or I had a later version of awstats or something. Anyway, thought I'd do a google search on the off chance that you could change it yourself and came across your page.
