Google pledges to open up the world

Web

I'm not totally sure I understand all of the implications of this yet, but this seems big. Very big. Google is bidding on an FCC wireless service auction, with a $4.6 billion bid. They basically want the following:

# Open applications: consumers should be able to download and utilize any software applications, content, or services they desire;
# Open devices: consumers should be able to utilize their handheld communications device with whatever wireless network they prefer;
# Open services: third parties (resellers) should be able to acquire wireless services from a 700 MHz licensee on a wholesale basis, based on reasonably nondiscriminatory commercial terms; and
# Open networks: third parties (like Internet service providers) should be able to interconnect at any technically feasible point in a 700 MHz licensee's wireless network

This is crazy, just crazy. The world will be much different in a couple years' time if this goes through. Read Google's full release here.

An arcade site and more

Everyone knows that the internet is an incredible tool for research and networking, it's a great asset that can help you in your personal and professional life. However, one of the most enjoyable things that the internet has to offer is the endless number of free games available that you can play online! There are probably very few pastimes on the internet as popular as playing Flash games!

But because of this, there are also millions upon millions of websites that are dedicated to hosting free flash games. It's hard to find one that you like, has good games, and can stick with. I was recently sent a link to ArcadeFist.com, and I like it. The design of the site may look a little outdated, but they have a lot of games, and some other randomly amusing stuff, likefunny videos (who doesn't love sending funny video clips to their firends??)! You can register as well, to rank in their top players list.

I for one would say that this is a decent site worth bookmarking. Basically, I think that it's easier to find a cool game site that you know you like, and stick with it. That way you don't have to search every time you want to play something. Oh, and one other thing - if you have a Myspace account, and are looking for some cool images for you Myspace profile, then you'll for sure love the site!
